Sadly, as SF Weekly glibly (albeit accurately) noted, "almost nobody you know will vote for the next mayor of San Francisco." And yet, voting is just as important a part of being an American as loving/loathing the New York Yankees or lying about not TiVo-ing every episode of Dancing With the Stars. And if you don't vote in the race for San Francisco's next Mayor, Sheriff or District Attorney, you're not allowed to complain when whomever get elected does something you dislike.
Today, October 24th, is the last day to register to vote in the November 8th election.
Voter registration forms can be downloaded at the California Secretary of State's website. The forms need to be postmarked by Monday in order to count in the upcoming election.
The forms can also be picked up at any public library, post office or Department of Motor Vehicles location.
On this year's ballot are school and road construction bonds, a pair of competing pension reform measures, a change in the way students are assigned to the city's public primary and secondary schools, an alteration of the rules for political lobbyists, a sales tax increase and a law that would allow the Board of Supervisors amend or repeal measures passed by voters.
