'Rule The World': Selena Gomez Releases New Breakup Anthem (AUDIO)

Selena Gomez Releases New Breakup Anthem

Selena Gomez just released the first song off her forthcoming album, and it's no surprise that "Rule The World" is a breakup anthem.

“Our love was made to rule the world / You came and broke the perfect girl / Forget you ever knew my name,” the 20-year-old singer and actress croons in the song.

It sounds like Gomez is intent to dance away the pain after her breakup with pop star Justin Bieber.

In January, the former Disney star told MTV News that a "big turn" in her personal and professional life happened to her right as she was in the middle of recording her album, and "it was incredible to see how I applied that to music because I've never done that before and it's great."

The star, who is about to show audiences her edgier side in "Spring Breakers," added, "I think the older I'm getting the more I'm just kind of like I'm cool to share my side of the stories as much as I can, so I'm having a lot of fun."
