'Runner Runner' Trailer: Justin Timberlake Vs. Ben Affleck (With A Side Of Jean-Ralphio) (VIDEO)

Ben Affleck's Evil New Role

If you thought the trailers for "Getaway" and "Paranoia" were throwbacks, take a look at the new "Runner Runner" trailer, a.k.a., what if we made a movie where Ben Affleck's "Boiler Room" character became an online gambling king who feeds people to crocodiles.

Directed by Brad Furman (who made the equally pulpy "Lincoln Lawyer"), "Runner Runner" imagines a world where Justin Timberlake is a college student who gambles away his tuition money and then heads to Puerto Rico in an effort to get it back. Things don't go as planned, not just because of Affleck (playing a man named Ivan Block; yes) and the aforementioned crocs: the FBI, here embodied by Anthony Mackie, want to bring these shady gambling enterprises down.

Anyway, "Runner Runner" puts Affleck back in a mode he hasn't had to use in quite a while: the irate heavy. It's a skill he used to perfection in the aforementioned "Boiler Room" as well as "Mallrats" and that scene in "The Town" where he dresses down Jeremy Renner. Watching Affleck go bad in "Runner Runner" feels like the movie equivalent of grabbing a beer with an old college buddy.

Watch the trailer for "Runner Runner" -- with a side order of a hirsute Jean-Ralphio (Ben Schwartz) as Timberlake's bestie -- above. The film is out on Sept. 27 (tickets already purchased).
