Shep Smith cut to the heart of the Anthony Weiner controversy on Wednesday's "Studio B."
The most puzzling thing about the increasingly surreal series of statements Weiner has made to the press is his insistence that he can't say with any "certitude" whether or not the infamous picture that appeared on his Twitter account over the weekend is of him. One after another, interviewers asked Weiner the obvious question: how can you not know if those are your bulging underpants? Wouldn't you, y'know, recognize yourself? Smith tried to put the matter as delicately as he could.
"I guess that you could see something of this nature that belongs on your person or doesn't, and not be, have any 'certitude' about whether it is yours," he said, "but, uh, when you've lived with certain things all your life, you'd think eventually you'd probably know what's yours."
