'No King': Stephen King's World Series Trump Claim Goes Horrifyingly Wrong

The author tried to finesse his mistake, but that just extended the misery.

Author Stephen King swung and missed in a World Series criticism of President Donald Trump, earning a fact-check on X and critics’ scorn.

In a post on Sunday, King wrote, “Trump says he won’t invite either team playing in the World Series to the White House. He can’t rise above his petty political concerns even for the great American game. If anything shows what a louse he is, that’s it.”

But the claim is false and likely originated from a fake Truth Social screen grab purportedly from Trump that read: “No matter who wins I will refuse to invite either baseball team to my ball room as they are both run by highly inept officials from California and Ontario Canada. I don’t host losers. We are actively investigating MLB. This World Series is rigged, probably by the Dems & the Mafia.”

A Truth Social fake likely prompted the author's wrath.

King tried to weasel out in a follow-up post.

“If he invites either WS team to the White House, I’ll be the most surprised libtard in history,” he wrote.

Last month, King mischaracterized comments by Charlie Kirk about gay people shortly after his assassination.

In a series of apologies at the time, he wrote: “This is what I get for reading something on Twitter w/o fact-checking. Won’t happen again.”

It did.

King regularly rips Trump and his allies, correctly flexing his curmudgeon cred to the delight of many who despise the president.

This time, however, the leftie got tagged with an “L.” “No King,” many cracked in reference to the nationwide protests against Trump’s authoritarian leanings.

Trump has beefed with pro sports teams before over White House visits, but he welcomed the Dodgers in April to celebrate their 2024 title. He also wished this year’s WS participants, the Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays, well in a statement:

“This year’s World Series brings together two exceptional teams that earned their place through talent and determination. As the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays compete for the Commissioner’s Trophy, they remind us why baseball brings friends and neighbors together. Melania and I send our best wishes to the players, coaches, and fans for a fun and safe series. May the best team win, and may God bless our national pastime and the United States of America.”
