Volcano Spurts Gigantic Ash Plume In Mesmerizing Time-Lapse Video

A volcano in Mexico spurts ash almost 10,000 feet into the sky in mesmerizing time-lapse footage posted online.

The Colima volcano, which stands at 12,595 feet high near the country's west coast, violently coughed up the plume at 4 p.m. Friday.

Nicola Rustichelli posted the awe-inspiring stop-start video to the YouTube channel WebcamsdeMexico, and it's now going viral.

Colima is one of three volcanoes in the Colima Volcanic Complex. It's one of 14 active volcanoes in Mexico and has erupted 59 times since 1519, according to VolcanoDiscovery.com.

The volatile mountain has been in a near constant active state since 1994 and continuously erupting since 2013, with the nearby University of Colima monitoring it for the last 20 years.

Scientists say the volcano's current eruption shows no signs of stopping.
