I often think about how to start each day. My goal is to create a day to look forward to and embrace in terms of positive energy. In the fast-paced world that we live in, that can be a daily challenge. So if we decide beforehand what it is we'd like to have happen in our day, we will match that energy to help make that happen. Setting the tone for one's day is vitally important. What propels us forward should be positive and helpful, and therefore the tone we set should be clear, with focus and intensity.

There are several ways to accomplish this. They are simple, and seem easy, but they need to be repeated regularly in order for you to establish a routine. Once you remember to create a tone for your day, you are likely to experience the true value of your time.

1.Make a list of the three most important things you wish to accomplish that day. It's important to not overwhelm yourself and only take on a list of tasks you know you can achieve that day.
2.Remember to include on this list your downtime regarding family, friends, pets and personal pursuits. Your life consists of more than work. We are all more than one we do. Don't shortchange day by leaving yourself out.
3.Take personal time to go within your spirit and seek the silence and wisdom offered in meditation.

Here is a simple 60-second meditation designed to be done at various times during the day. The technique is easy. Take a deep inhalation through your nose. Raise your arms slowly over your head as you inhale, and clasp your hands together in prayer-like position. Slowly bring your hands down in front of you, still clasped, and exhale through your nose just as slowly as you bring your hands down the center of your body. Stop at your waist, count to five and then unclasp your hands and sweep them along your legs to close the session. That's all there is to it. Doing this a few times a day helps lower blood pressure, keeps us centered and grounded, and creates a serenity that helps us respond to life with reason, rather than to react to life with emotion.

HuffPost's GPS for the Soul app is based on two truths about human beings. First: We all have a centered place of wisdom, harmony and balance within us. Second: We're all going to veer away from that place, again and again and again. What we need is a great course-correcting mechanism -- a GPS for the Soul -- to help us find our way back to that centered place, from which everything is possible.

Because no one knows better than you what helps you de-stress and tap into that place of peace inside yourself, it's important for you to create your very own GPS guide -- a personalized collection of whatever helps you course-correct. Email us at GPS@huffingtonpost.com and we'll set you up with your very own HuffPost blogger account to share your guide on the site. If you're already a blogger, we encourage you to upload your personal guide today. We can't wait to see what you have to share.
