Andrew Pettegree is Professor of Modern History at the University of St Andrews, Scotland, where he now runs the Universal Short Title Catalogue, an analytical database of all books published during the first age of print. He is the author of many books on the European Reformation and on the history of communication. His latest book, The Invention of News; How the World Came to Know about Itself is newly published by Yale University Press.
