Co-Founder, Executive Director A New PATH and Lead Organizer of Moms United to End the War on Drugs

Gretchen Burns Bergman is Director / Co-Founder of A New PATH, a non-profit organization working to reduce the stigma associated with addictive illness through education and compassionate support and to advocate for therapeutic rather than punitive drug policies. She served as State Chairperson for Prop. 36 in 2000, (treatment instead of incarceration) and was active in passing Prop 47 in California. She is the lead organizer of the national Moms United to End the War on Drugs campaign, working to end the violence, mass incarceration and overdose deaths that are a result of punitive prohibitionist drug policies. Her articles about harm reduction and the human casualties of the failed war on drugs have been published nationwide, and she has spoken before countless audiences on the topic of therapeutic justice for individuals with addictive illness. She has two grown sons who have struggled with addiction and incarceration.
