Jonathan Ebel is a religion professor and a Democratic candidate for Congress in Illinois' 13th District. He is the only veteran running on either side. Jon spent eleven years (active and reserve) as an intel officer in the U.S. Navy. Jon is the author of G.I. Messiahs: Soldiering, War, and American Civil Religion, (Yale, 2015) and Faith in the Fight: Religion and the American Solider in the Great War (Princeton, 2010).
