Nine animals, including a Canadian goose and a squirrel, have been found shot by blow darts in Pelham Bay Park in the Bronx over the last few years.

Two of the birds were found dead and two others were euthanized.

The Daily News reports the same park also had 15 trees fatally vandalized in the last two weeks.

NYC Parks Advocate Geoffrey Croft said, "We need to have much greater protection in our public parks -- more parks enforcement police."

Hurting a park tree can result in a $15,000 fine and up to a year in prison. Animal cruelty is a felony punishable by up to two years in prison.
