Foodie alert! Master sommelier and long-time "Check, Please!" host Alpana Singh has announced an opening date for The Boarding House, the much-anticipated wine bar and restaurant she co-owns.

The Boarding House, 720 N. Wells, well open its doors for a "soft" opening of its bar and cellar on Thursday, followed by a full opening of its three-storey premises on Dec. 20, 312 Dining Diva reported Tuesday.

Singh and her chef Christian Gosselin (Sofitel) aim to offer a casual, walk-in-friendly atmosphere to enjoy cocktails, wine and shareable plates of "new American" cuisine such as mussels, pork tots and cheese and charcuterie on its lower levels and a more formal dining experience on its third floor, according to Daily Candy. The restaurant's multi levels -- as spied via the spot's Facebook page -- are expectantly gorgeous, including an opulent chandelier comprised of 9,063 wine glasses.

The River North restaurant is already accepting reservations, Eater Chicago notes, which can be attained by calling 312-280-0720, e-mailing cellar@bhchicago.com or via OpenTable.
