Nicholas Tee Ruiz began fashioning bow ties out of recycled materials when he was looking for something unique to wear to gallery openings at New York’s Museum of Modern Art, where he works coordinating special programs and events. After creating and wearing 11 bow ties out of materials ranging from aluminum cans to LEGOs, the 24-year-old launched a Kickstarter campaign to help him open an online store where he will sell bow ties made out of fun recycled and found objects, as well as classic bow ties for daily wear.
