Colorado is known for its active citizens and vigorous outdoor activities. However, with the summer winding down, the amount of outdoorsy summer activities is beginning to dwindle. Therefore, we have compiled a list of this weeks best active summer events to check out while the warm weather persists.

Denver Oyster Urban Adventure Race(01 of10)

This unconventional relay race entails both athleticism and strategy, as teams must run, bike, paddle, climb, answer clues, and complete tasks all over the city. Although the Full Oyster course is a grueling 30-40 miles, the Half Oyster is a good alternative for those of us who aren’t in top shape. Registration closes August 20 at 11:59pm. The annual Holy COW Trail Stampede is a 10K run and 5K trail run/walk. This is an exciting activityevent for both experienced runners and first timers alike. The proceeds go towards the Westminster Youth/ Teen Scholarship fund and the Westminster Legacy Foundation. Runners and walkers will be greeted with food and activities upon finishing the stampede. The Denver Challenge is an “Amazing Race” type competition in which teams of two or more race through the city solving clues, planning efficient routes, and exploring downtown Denver while competing for cash prizes. A gravel trail race that benefits Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma research, awareness, and treatment for children battling this rare form of brain cancer. This is the perfect event for runners with children since there will be a free Kids Fun Run. A great way to commemorate any late canine friends as all donations go towards Morris Animal Foundation’s research to prevent, cure, and treat cancer in dogs. This Estes Park walk is a great option for families with dogs, since walkers have the option of participating in the full 4 mile walk or a short walk of less than 1 mile.
