D.C. Cocker Spaniels: 'Be Mine Nine' Rescued By Oldies But Goodies Need New Homes

These Dogs Will Break Your Heart

This smiling cocker spaniel wasn't always so happy.

In early February, Oldies But Goodies -- an animal welfare group focused on adult cocker spaniels -- rescued nine dogs from a Virginia backyard breeder.

The "be mine nine," as Oldies But Goodies is calling them, hadn't been groomed in half a decade. Some were so matted they couldn't move. Patton -- the dog you see in the photo -- could hardly hold his head up. Ainsley's teeth were cracked, from chewing on the metal bars of her cage. Miss Bocelli was blind from untreated cataracts.

In the weeks since their rescue, the be mine nine have been groomed. They've received medical care. Some, like Miss Bocelli, are in foster homes. And now Oldies But Goodies is looking for new permanent homes for these abused, recovering dogs.

You can see their photos in this slideshow, and read more about them and their remarkable progress on the Oldies But Goodies blog:
