A prominent Colorado Springs businessman pleaded guilty Tuesday to giving an "illegal gratuity" to the former construction chief at Fort Carson and agreed to help prosecutors with a deepening corruption probe.

Wendel P. Torres entered the plea in U.S. District Court in Denver.
