In the world of President Trump, it is interesting how much things have changed when Republican leaders such as Mitt Romney and some Fox News hosts are now comparative voices of reason. Recently, former President George W. Bush was added to the list during an interview on NBC’s ‘Today Show’.

Bush slammed Trump on his ongoing war with the media and said that America needs answers on Russia. Remember the “Miss me yet?” memes when former President Barack Obama took office? The message finally rings clear now with President Trump’s already outlandish presidency.

“We need an independent media to hold people like me to account,” Bush said. “Power can be very addictive, and it can be corrosive. And it’s important for the media to call to account people who abuse their power, whether it be here or elsewhere.”

It’s refreshing to hear this statement from a former Republican president, especially one whose presidency resulted in two wars and economic depression. At least during his time in office he didn’t refer to the media as the “enemy of the people.”
