Nathan Saffer, 29, and Kerry Hawkins, 24, a Palisade, Colo. couple, have been arrested after a police-sting operation allegedly caught them in the act of dealing meth out of their apartment in front of their two young daughters, according to KJCT. Mesa County Sheriff officials said that Hawkins negotiated a drug deal while holding her three-month old daughter.

7News reports that during the bust, deputies discovered crystal meth in the couple's diaper bag, drug-related paraphernalia including a loaded syringe that was on top of the television, as well as other drugs around the apartment that were accessible to the young children, according to KKCO.

The apartment itself was reportedly filthy with garbage strewn around the home, a trash can with several inches of mold growing inside of it, piles of dirty laundry and an overwhelming odor. In the arrest affidavit one officer wrote, "I observed that this apartment was not fit for humans to reside in," according to the Grand Junction Sentinel.

Hawkins and Saffer face multiple charges for drugs as well as child abuse and their two daughters have been placed in foster care.
