This is it. The last weekend of summer 2012. Just because you don't have some jaunty getaway planned doesn't mean you can't live it up right here around NYC.

We plan on gorging on fresh crab, dancing the day and night away (kids and dogs welcome), going for a ride on a schooner, catching and releasing, taking down an ice cream cone (or two), attending the ultimate barbeque, and taking a much-needed dip in the pool.

You can do the same. It's all in our guide to cramming it all in before this long weekend comes to a close.

It's been a while since there were any scuffles at the glorious new McCarren Park Pool, so it seems as good a time as any to check it out and go for a swim. Especially since it closes for the season after this weekend.
