LAPD Drag Photo: Police Officers Dress As Women To Nab A Purse Snatcher

Dude Looks Like A Lady!

Apparently the police do have a sense of humor.

This 1960 photo depicting policemen in drag was posted on the LAPD Central Division Facebook page Wednesday -- and it's not pretty.

But these police officers weren't just dressing up for Halloween; they were part of an operation to catch a purse snatcher turned murderer.

It's interesting to see how the costume (for most, a dress, overcoat and headscarf) might subconsciously affect the way the officers present themselves. Most in the back row have their hands pressed together demurely, with a faint smile and eyes slightly downcast.

But a few in front are squatting with either one knee up or knees spread wide apart. One Facebook commenter remarked, "somebody should have given them lessons re how to hold a handbag--and pose with their knees pressed together."

They may not be ready for "RuPaul's Drag Race" in that state, but to us, the 5 o'clock shadow, unshaved legs and misapplied makeup makes these queens all the more charming.
