Live & Dangerous: February 2015

Festival season is almost upon us! But no need to skimp on live music while we wait for our favorite spring/summer events like Coachella and Bonaroo to arrive. Here are 3 emerging artists playing the west coast next month (and one in late January) that are well worth fighting the winter blues to check out live.

WHO: Seinabo Sey
WHEN: February 4th, Masonic Lodge @ Hollywood Forever Cemetary - Los Angeles, CA
WHY: 23-year-old Swedish born artist Seinabo Sey incorporates a lot of different styles -- including soul, funk and electro -- into her own unique brand of pop which transcends any kind of distinct categorization. The emerging vocal powerhouse generated some serious chatter overseas last year with her underground hit "Younger," and is poised to release a slew of new buzzworthy songs this year. The maturity of her vocals defies her age, and her live sets leave audiences captivated and wanting more. Check out her upcoming show at the amazing Hollywood Forever Cemetery on February 4 in LA.

WHO: George Ezra
WHEN: January 31st, Bill Graham Civic Auditorium - San Francisco, CA
WHY: George Ezra is at the beginning of a massive year -- the 21-year-old British singer/songwriter just kicked off a tour with Sam Smith, and it was recently announced that he will be performing at the 2015 Brit awards. His music is fun, fresh and contagious, which, when coupled with his undeniable on-stage spark, makes him a delight to see perform live. Check out Ezra's debut album, Wanted on Voyage (out now), and make sure to catch this up-and comer on his US tour before he heads back to Europe.

WHO: Flight Facilities
WHEN: February 21st, The Showbox - Seattle, WA
WHY: Australian electronic producer duo Flight Facilities have been quietly generating hype over the past few years leading up to the release of their debut album late last year, titled Down to Earth. And it did not disappoint. Down to Earth is a smooth, silky, electronic collection of songs that you can't help but feel good listening to. Flight Facilities' consistently sold-out live shows radiate those same good vibes -- frontmen Hugo Grunzman and James Lyell work behind their DJ booth to create an impeccably produced set with an infectious, flowing energy. If you plan to be in Seattle in February, don't miss out on their show @ the Showbox on the 21.
