StoryCorps, an organization known for highlighting the unique stories of individual Americans, has teamed up with the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and Bridge The Gap to tell the stories of Gulf residents reeling from the BP oil spill.

The Stories from the Gulf project will put out new oral histories each week, documenting how individuals and families in the Gulf lived before the oil spill and how the disaster has affected their lives.

Gulf fisherman George Barisich shares his story -- of life growing up in Louisiana, his beloved boat and how the oil spill has affected his business.
