Catrina Fox Jumps From Car Driven By Mother, Is Hit And Killed By Oncoming Car (VIDEO)

KIPLING, Colo. -- Police in Denver say a teenage girl is dead after she jumped out of a car driven by her mother and was hit and killed by an oncoming vehicle.

The Denver Post reports ( http://goo.gl/mEEpA ) 17-year-old Catrina Fox jumped from the moving car on U.S. 285 at about 1 a.m. Saturday.

She was hit by a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser being driven by another teen, a 17-year-old boy.

Fox was killed. Police say they do not plan to file charges in the accident. The boy was uninjured.

According to Fox31, Tim Bright, a witness to the scene of the accident who saw the reaction of the teen driver of the PT Cruiser that struck Fox, said the driver was was saying "oh my god, oh my god, I swear I didn't see her, oh my god, somebody call 911."

Colorado State Patrol Trooper Josh Lewis told 7News that Fox intentionally opened the passenger side car door and jumped as it was moving.

Why Fox jumped from the car remains a mystery, but police do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor.

"I think she was dealing with a lot of demons," Fox's friend Kayla Lucero, 18, told The Denver Post on Saturday. "She went over the edge with her emotions."

Since the news broke Saturday, Fox's Facebook page has been flooded with heartbreaking messages from friends expressing sadness in the loss of the young girl. According to her Facebook page, Fox worked at a Denver catering company, but appeared to be getting ready for a big move to California as shown in her post from Jan. 21:

Going through every inch, every box, every picture and every memory in this room. Already started packing some ofthe small stuff.... the reality of moving to cali has hit me! And im gonna enjoy my last weeks in colorado the best i can!!!

Some of Fox's posts on her Facebook page suggest the teen may have had a troubled past, but seemed happy with the positive things happening in her life, the 17-year-old mentions "getting off of probation" and excitement for passing the first half of her GED in several posts, one from Jan. 18 appears to capture some of those feelings:

not only did i pass the first half of my ged, and im getting off probation, i just found out i get my money on february 2nd. it feels good to be smilin again. i knew i just needed to focus on me for awhile.
