Nixon is immortal.

Or so it seems.

A playwright has assumed the persona of the 37th president of the United States, and he's offering up political commentary via Twitter. The imposter is 33-year-old Justin Sherin, and his @Dick-Nixon combines historic and original material.

This uncanny reincarnation has caught on, and the Twitter feed has 7,000-plus followers.

Political junkies are marveling at how well Sherin has captured Nixon's tenacity and, yes, profanity of the only leader of the free world who resigned to side step impeachment proceedings.

I was fourteen during the Watergate hearings in the summer of 1973, and I watched them every day on television. I was fascinated by the process of justice, and the role two dogged reporters played in it. It's why I became a journalist. I could see the power in it for good.

My favorite image of the Watergate era is of Nixon being whisked away from the White House by helicopter, leaving crowds of people looking up at the man who came close to dismantling what our founding fathers created.

As the country marks the 40th anniversary of Nixon's resignation, we can celebrate the process of justice. While justice is imperfect, at least we have a process, and the dogged who have a relentless pursuit of it.
