YouTube has a sweet free offer that will delight TV buffs.
The premiers of hit television dramas "Dexter" (starring Michael C. Hall) and Emmy-award winning show "Homeland" (starring Claire Danes) are currently accessible via Showtime's YouTube channel -- which means you can watch these thrillers for free.
Both shows premiered this past Sunday, September 30, with serial-killer hit "Dexter" (now in its seventh season) filling the 9 p.m. EST slot, and terrorist-themed "Homeland" (second season) taking on the 10 p.m. ET slot, according to Showtime's website.
This isn't the first time a cable network has released premiers on YouTube. HBO previously aired the pilot episodes of "Girls" and "Veep" on the web last April, while Showtime has sampled several of its hits online, like "Weeds" and "House of Lies." Some shows, such as the pilot episode of "Homeland," were even aired on YouTube prior to premiering on TV.
But don't get too used to this handy little setup if you aren't willing to pay up. While YouTube is promoting the first episodes of "Dexter" and "Homeland," this is just a slice of the television drama to come. The rest of these seasons will be viewable only through a Showtime subscription (whomp, whomp). Online sampling for both premiers will end on October 31, so catch them while you can!
