Metra service was delayed following the discovery of a man's body on the railroad tracks near northwest suburban Woodstock early Tuesday morning.
A passenger alerted authorities that a man appeared to be sleeping on an outbound track around 7 a.m., the Northwest Herald reports.
According to a release from the Woodstock police department, the deceased is Robert A. Delisi, 27 of Woodstock.
"When we got there, he was dead," John Potoczky, a firefighter and paramedic with the Woodstock Fire and Rescue District told the Northwest Herald. The man was not struck by a train.
Union Pacific Northwest Line inbound train No. 630 was able to get by the scene using an adjacent track, Metra spokesman Tom Miller told the Chicago Sun-Times. Police are on the scene investigating the incident.
Subsequent trains will likely be delayed, Miller said.
An autopsy is slated for later Tuesday.
