Chatham Hit-And-Run: 3 Arrested After Man Was Struck And Dragged Through The Street

Man Dragged Down The Block In Hit-And-Run, 3 Arrested

A man was seriously injured late Tuesday night after he was struck and dragged by a car in a hit-and-run in Chicago's East Chatham neighborhood.

Police say a dark sedan struck plowed into the man near the intersection of 83rd Street and Ingleside Avenue around 11 p.m. After the collision, police say the car drove off, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

The victim was dragged nearly a block after he was hit and some witnesses on the scene thought the man was actually dead following the horrific incident, ABC Chicago reports.

As of Wednesday, the unnamed man was listed in serious condition at Stroger Hospital.

A pair of officers in a squad car actually saw the accident and stayed with the man while radioing a description of the car, according to the Chicago Tribune. Officers in the neighboring district spotted the car less than a mile away in the 8200 block of South Blackstone Avenue.

Three people were arrested — a driver and two passengers — and were taking in for questioning. As of Wednesday morning, no charges have been filed.
