El conjunto inglés del Chelsea hizo su presentación en el Mundial de Clubes y sin problema alguno se impuso al equipo mexicano de Monterrey 3-1 en el estadio de Yokohama, en Japón, que lo pone en la gran final del certamen internacional.

La escuadra inglesa demostró su superioridad por varios lapsos del partido y supo aprovechar las oportunidades que logró generar, incluso las distracciones de su rival, sobre todo en los primeros minutos del segundo tiempo, en la que sentenció el partido con dos errores defensivos rayados.

Desde el primer el tiempo, el equipo mexicano salió muy distraído y nervioso, lo cual lo supo leer bien el equipo contrario, pues éste empezó a tener llegadas de peligro, siendo sus motores para ello David Luiz y Eden Hazard.

Y gracias a este dominio, el equipo del timonel Rafael Benítez logró plasmar su mejor toque de balón al minuto 17 con el primer gol del partido, luego de una gran triangulación azul terminada por Juan Mata dentro del área grande con fuerte zurdazo.

A partir de la anotación, Chelsea comenzó a consentir al equipo mexicano, que logró tener su mejor futbol en los últimos minutos, pero no pudo hilvanar una jugada de peligro que pusiera en aprietos al portero Petr Cech.

Para el segundo tiempo, el equipo inglés rápidamente marcó el rumbo del partido con dos anotaciones: la primera llegó cuando ni siquiera se cumplía el primer minuto por medio de Fernando Torres, quien con fuerte disparo aprovechó un pase de Hazard por la banda derecha, no obstante de que contó con la suerte de que el balón fue desviado por el zaguero Hiram Mier.

Al siguiente minuto, Chelsea prácticamente resolvió el partido con su tercera anotación, la cual llegó en los botines de un contrario (Darvin Chávez), después de que el zaguero mexicano buscara despejar un centro de Juan Mata por el lado derecho.

Con los goles en esta segunda parte el juego se volvió más abierto, por lo que ambos conjuntos tuvieron sus aproximaciones. Monterrey empezó a tener más tiempo el balón para buscar acercarse en el marcador, pero a sus jugadores les faltó profundidad.

Pero fue hasta en tiempo de compensación que el cuadro azteca logró tener su gol de la honra por medio de Aldo de Nigris, quien recibió pase filtrado de Walter Ayovi que lo dejó solo dentro del área grande por el costado derecho ante Cech, a quien no tuvo problemas para vencer.

Con este marcador, el cuadro dirigido por el timonel Víctor Manuel Vucetich irá en busca del tercer puesto ante la escuadra africana de Al Ahly; mientras que el conjunto de Chelsea jugará la gran final con el Corinthians de Brasil; ambos partidos se jugarán el 16 de diciembre en el estadio de Yokohama.
