Police Memorial Vandalized, $3,000 Reward Offered For Information

Chicago police are offering a $3,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals who vandalized a memorial for police officers killed while in the line of duty.

Graffiti was discovered near the intersection of 18th Street and McFetridge Drive, near Soldier Field, early Thursday evening, the Chicago Sun-Times reports, ahead of a Father's Day mass that was to be held at the memorial Sunday.

"That’s lower than low,” the Rev. Dan Brandt, a board member of the memorial told the Sun-Times. "That’s sacred ground. To deface that memorial is just disrespectful."

Police have no physical description of the vandalism suspects, ABC Chicago reports. But they hope that someone will recognize the symbols featured in the defacement.

Anyone with information about the graffiti is urged to call police at 312-747-8382.
