Chicago is a good place to be for home-hunters in search of a bargain.
A recent report by Zillow named the Chicago area as the nation's top real estate market for buyers, meaning that many properties are being sold at lower prices as they struggle to move, the Chicago Tribune reports.
There is a downside, of course, to the Windy City's top ranking for homebuyers, of course: The local housing market is struggling to recover and many homes are falling into foreclosure. The Chicago area saw a 27 percent increase in foreclosures last month compared to June 2011.
Taking the good with the bad, we've featured 10 of the hottest recently listed properties in Chicago. Given the city's recent distinction as great for homebuyers, you might just be able to snag a good deal on one of these homes -- though for most, they remain purely aspirational for the majority of us city dwellers.
