Condé Nast is officially set to be under new leadership starting in January.
Bob Sauerberg will become CEO while also remaining president of the publishing company, a title he has held for five years, according to an email current CEO Chuck Townsend sent on Sunday to staff.
In the email, Townsend said Sauerberg's vision for Condé Nast includes increasing digital revenue growth while reaffirming the publisher's dedication to its print content.
"We have had the privilege of beginning the Company’s critical transition from the world’s most prominent magazine publisher, to a multi-platform media company during my later years as CEO, and Bob has always been right at my side, leading the way into digital audience and revenue growth, while celebrating our remarkable accomplishments in magazine publishing, journalism and revenue generation," Townsend wrote in the email obtained by Politico.
Condé Nast has drastically increased its digital audience over the past five years, from 17.2 million unique monthly visitors to 87.3 million, according to Variety. In July, the company ranked No. 22 on comScore's "Top 50 U.S. Digital Media Properties" list.
Townsend will continue working for the publishing company, as chairman. The current chairman, S.I. Newhouse Jr., will move into the role of chairman emeritus.
