Freddie Wong is a 25-year-old filmmaker based in Los Angeles, who has gained popularity with his two YouTube channels, freddiew and freddiew2 -- somehow, somewhere, his world collided with Jon Favreau over the ether.

His short film, "Cowboys and FreddieW" -- a spoof on Favreau's "Cowboys and Aliens" -- features Wong as a dazed inhabitant of cowboy town (aka Universal's lot), who is attacked by the town's tough guys when they see his face on a wanted poster. That is, until Favreau swoops in, and everything gets futuristic.

In a behind-the-scenes video, Wong explains how they came to make a film with Favreau, and how it was made.

Jon Favreau asked us to do a movie based on it, and we were like, yes," Wong said.

"Cowboys and Aliens" comes out this Friday, and after seeing both this and the trailer for the film, this could potentially do more for the film than the actual trailer did.
