As violence rages across Egypt, one image perfectly captures the tension between daily life and the chaos engulfing the nation.
Shot by an unknown photographer in the northern coastal city of Mersa Matruh, west of Cairo, the photo below was posted to Twitter by Yahya Diwer, a freelance photojournalist from Alexandria.
Clashes broke out in Mersa Matruh and other cities after the Egyptian military forcibly removed protesters supporting deposed President Mohammed Morsi from two sit-in camps in Cairo. According to the Health Ministry, the violence left at least 525 people dead and more than 3,000 injured over the past two days, with the death toll expected to climb.
