UPDATE: 10:53 a.m. -- The Enterprise space shuttle has flown over Manhattan and is on its way to land at JFK.

Many took to Twitter to share their photos of the flyover, and you'll find some of the amazing pictures below.

PREVIOUSLY:

After several weather-related delays, the space shuttle Enterprise, mounted atop a Boeing 747 airliner, is scheduled to fly over New York City on Friday morning.

Weather permitting, the shuttle -- which never actually went to space -- will make its flight from Washington Dulles International Airport to Kennedy Airport between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. Before landing, it will take a bit of a detour and some lucky spectators will get a rare glimpse of the shuttle's "piggyback" ride.

According to NASA, the 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft (SCA) carrying the Enterprise will "fly at a relatively low altitude" near landmarks like the Statue of Liberty and the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.

If all goes according to plan, there should be some prime viewing opportunities from New York City and parts of New Jersey, and we'd love to see your pictures of the Enterprise.

To submit a photo, simply click the "Add a slide" button. Or, you can send your pictures to us via Twitter with the hashtag #ShuttleHP. We'll be updating the slideshow throughout the day so be sure to check back for new photos.
