Eight men, including one public schools employee, were arrested at an Aurora hotel on suspicion of child prostitution last Friday.
The Arapahoe County District Attorney's Office confirmed that Gary D. Campbell is an Aurora school district employee and was among those arrested. Campbell and the other defendants were allegedly responding to a Backpage.com advertisement and were heading to a hotel to have sex with a 17-year-old, according to the DA's office.
They have been charged with patronizing a prostituted child.
"There are no further allegations of any alleged criminal conduct by Mr. Campbell at his place of employment or elsewhere," a press release from the DA's office said.
In a statement to CBS4 News, the school district said they were unable to comment.
“Due to privacy laws, we are unable to discuss these allegations further. When we receive allegations of this nature, we would immediately contact the police, begin our own investigation and possibly place the staff member on administrative leave during the investigation. We do not condone any inappropriate adult conduct, and we cooperate fully with the police.”
The arrest of the eight men was the result of a joint investigation by the Aurora Police Department and Denver’s FBI Rocky Mountain Safe Streets and Innocence Lost Task Force.
