In 2008, Gweneviere Mann suffered short-term memory loss due to a stroke that took place while doctors performed brain surgery to remove a tumor.

Two years later, she and her boyfriend, Yasir Salem, sat down with StoryCorps to discuss the difficult recovery process and how the pair used Mann's condition to to their advantage when running the New York City Marathon.

Now, StoryCorps has released a darling animation (above) of that interview. And while "Marking the Distance" describes the everyday trials and tribulations of Mann's memory loss, it also explains how she eventually figured out she has a lot left in her.
