Police searched for a possible gunman at Holy Names University in Oakland on Thursday, according to NBC Bay Area.

San Jose Mercury News reported that police received word at about 10:50 a.m. of a possible gunman on campus. Police immediately searched the campus while about 200 students and employees took shelter in a gymnasium.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the man was described as white, wearing glasses and a navy-blue business suit.

Tim Wood, whose 20-year-old son attends the school, told NBC Bay Area that he received a text from his son that police were searching the campus with automatic weapons. He said the shooter was considered "active" and "armed and dangerous."

Police did not locate the gunman and the search was called off at 2 p.m.
