While America might not be a friendly place for Muslims if certain political hopefuls have their way, the U.S.-based worldwide social network will continue to welcome them with open arms.

Mark Zuckerberg posted a Facebook message Wednesday in support of Muslims across the world, calling for a positive outlook as Muslims everywhere face a siege of fear and hatred.

Zuckerberg promised that Muslims would remain safe and welcome on Facebook, and vowed to do what he could to "protect your rights."

"If you're a Muslim in this community, as the leader of Facebook I want you to know that you are always welcome here and that we will fight to protect your rights and create a peaceful and safe environment for you," he said. "Having a child has given us so much hope, but the hate of some can make it easy to succumb to cynicism. We must not lose hope."

Zuckerberg joins world leaders who are firing back at Donald Trump's call for a "complete shutdown" of Muslims entering the U.S. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decried Trump's statements, and U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron didn't exactly bat down calls for Trump to be banned from the U.K.
