Former Denver Broncos linebacker Nate Webster is being indicted by a Hamilton County Grand Jury in Cincinnati, Ohio on seven counts of sex charges with a former coach's underage daughter.
The girl, who was 15 when the sexual encounters began over at least a six month time period in 2009, is the daughter of a former Cincinnati Bengals coach. The charges however were only filed last month, according to WKRC. The girl's father is still coaching in the NFL and was about to leave town for another position when she told him and he called the police, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph Deter's office says.
The seven counts of sexual-related felonies Webster is being indicted for include gross sexual imposition, sexual battery, and five counts of unlawful sex with a minor.
Webster had allegedly threatened to kill the girl and her family if she ever told anyone about their sexual encounters and had a gun with him on several occasions while he was with her. Police seized four guns from Webster's Cincinnati home today, and Deter says they have accumulated "a mountain of evidence" against him. If convicted, Webster could face 36.5 years in prison or more.
“It is disgusting that Webster would threaten this young victim and her family to keep her from reporting his sexual assaults on her,” Prosecutor Deters said in a comment.
Webster, 34, played for the Bengals from 2004 to 2005 and played for the Denver Broncos from 2006 to 2008 when he was let go. In 2010 he was hired as a defensive coordinator for Cincinnati's Bellevue High School football team but doesn't work there anymore, according to Cincinnati.com.
