Expect this fish-centric restaurant from the West Village’s de facto mayor slash restaurateur, Gabe Stulman, to make big, big waves. We were left giddy by the playful takes on Japanese izakaya cooking. Don’t miss the pancakes with salmon roe, the miso-maple salmon head and the sushi.

Give your taste buds a jolt with a trip to Greenpoint and a flavor vacation by way of the Balinese cooking at this new restaurant. The cooking, full of chiles, shallots, lemongrass and lime juice is both incredibly satisfying and reasonably priced.

April Bloomfield to the rescue! Things are looking up in Murray Hill with the addition of this fun taqueria. Go now to pair an after-work game of ping-pong with the eveninghappy-hour special (Mon. through Fri., 5:30 to 7 p.m.) of three al pastor tacos and a can of Modelo for just $10.
