Street Food Cinema is a fun spin on the traditional “dinner and a movie” outing, not to mention a great way to get your family together. This Saturday and Sunday, June 8 and 9 at 8:30 PM, the animated comedy Escape from Planet Earth will be shown, and food trucks such as Belly Bombz and India Jones will make their own scrumptious appearances. Doors open at 5:30, and we recommend arriving early to scope out your favorite food truck and best view of the screen. General admission is $10, and children under 5 get in for free.

Family Fundays at Will Geer’s Theatricum Botanicum happen infrequently, and are worth scheduling since they never fail to delight. This Sunday, June 9, Aesop’s Fables will be performed at the Botanicum’s Creative PlayGround. For Shakespeare fans, we suggest purchasing tickets for a performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream (which will be performed through September). But no matter what performance you choose to attend, come prepared with a picnic, some blankets, and ready for a great time!

Family Festivals are a must-do at the Getty. This Saturday, June 8 from 10:00 AM-6:00 PM, visitors are welcome to explore the best of the Renaissance for free! Help your kids create a floral wreath and watch The Ad Hoc Consort perform to help them get an idea of what life and culture was like during the Renaissance.

Whether you’re watching or participating, the Santa Monica Pier Paddleboard Race & Ocean Festival is sure to be a blast. Festivities start bright and early this Saturday, June 8 at 7:30 AM with various races and relay challenges. Not only will you and your family benefit from the outing, but Heal the Bay will also receive a portion of the proceeds.

The Hammer's A. Quincy Jones exhibit Building for Better Living is a current favorite of ours. Although it will be at the Hammer until September, we suggest you waste no time in scheduling a Saturday date night and heading in to Westwood to see Jones’ work (and the other fantastic art housed at the Hammer).

Friday Night Fireworks at Dodger Stadium brings audiences a Fourth of July highlight without having to wait until the holiday itself. Dodger Games are always exciting, but we recommend making a trip to the stadium this Friday, June 7 at 7:10 PM when the experience will be extra special. Don’t fret if you can’t make it this Friday; fireworks shows will take place throughout the summer. Tickets start at $10, and firework shows will be held throughout the summer.
