This past week, on March 19th, Dell Services hosted a think-tank with 11 different experts in the areas of health care policy and health care information technology. The event was held at the W Victory in Dallas, and broadcasted over Livestream to thousands of online viewers, and featured a live Twitter Q&A stream, with over 1,400 mentions for the hashtag #DoMoreHIT.
Among the areas covered, the six-hour session covered the following topics:
- Reactions to HIMSS'13
- IT empowering caregivers and consumers
- Gaming applications for wellness
- EHR, Interoperability, and HIE
- Big data, analytics, unleashing innovation
- Cloud services: the 'cloudalization' of health care information
- HITECH, PPACA "ObamaCare" and HIPAA
- False economies of EHR/EMR
#DoMoreHIT was one of the most dynamic and engaging discussions; somewhat atypical from what is expected of the industry. All of the panelists and participants, were, not only extremely knowledgeable about the topics covered, but also eager to enter into debates about issues like meaningful use, health care policy, patient empowerment, and the cloud.
In addition, a follow-up #HITsm tweetchat was organized by HL7Standards.com on March 22nd, were #DoMoreHIT was discussed, among other topics like: patient education, health care cloud, HITECH false economies, and open EMR.
