For girls, think about hosting a girls' night in. Create your own home spa equipped with mani-pedis and facials. For guys, go for a movie marathon or game night. And for the mixed groups, throw an anti-Valentine's Day party. It's not just for movies. Deck your house with V-day decorations, and with black permanent markers, destroy them with your friends. This is your one good excuse to indulge in a calorie-packed assortment of junk. It consists of your favorite snacks from your childhood until now. And by all means, dig in. You deserve it! (credit:Flickr:scubadive67)

Sometimes they seem hard to find, but for every couple in your city there's an equal number of single people. Keep your eyes on your BFF who's always arguing with his or her significant other. Be on the lookout for your other gal friend who's been semi-stalking that so-called really hot guy. You'll be doing them a favor. (credit:Alamy)

Gather a list of your favorite artists and songs. iTunes always has song favorites and Rhapsody is great if you're looking for a flat fee. Just find songs that you can't help but sing to when played. Be sure not to include love songs in this playlist. (credit:Flickr:philomglol)

Sending yourself flowers can feel just as good as receiving them from someone else. And presenting a box of chocolates to a friend can make them feel amazing. Also ... three words: heart lollipop bouquets. (credit:Flickr:Marit & Toomas Hinnosaar)
