Sky News, the U.K.-based global, satellite news channel is avialable in the United States for the first time, via Livestation, the London-based agregator of of live news programming, Sky News announced today.

In March at the Beet.TV executive retreat, we spoke with Livestation CEO Lippe Oosterhof about the viability of providing news on a paid basis and its implications for the industry.

The monthly subscription is $2.99. Although Sky News video clips are seen in the U.S. on Fox and CBS News programs, the channel is not available in this country.
