MSNBC's "Way Too Early" marked two years on the air on Wednesday with a call from none other than Gayle King, who heaped lavish praise on host Willie Geist.
Geist described King as a loyal viewer who constantly emails him her feedback on the show. King, who took the call in her pajamas, praised Geist's "ability to do goofy, crazy, kind of funny stuff" while being "scary smart" at the same time. She recalled stopping herself from emailing Geist when he was on vacation from the show the previous week, saying, "Stop sounding like a weird crazy stalker person." Geist responded jokingly, "This is why we brought you on this morning."
When Geist asked what has her up at 5:30am when "Way Too Early" airs, King professed herself a "news junkie" who likes to know what's going on, and expressed her concern about the debt ceiling talks.
The show also marked the show's birthday with what Geist called "the world's most depressing celebratory balloon drop," which consisted of someone shaking a handful of balloons from atop a ladder.
