America Ferrera and Eva Longoria taught Hollywood a valuable lesson at Sunday night’s Golden Globes: Latina actresses are not interchangeable.

The actresses revealed the origin of the moment Wednesday during the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour, while they were promoting their new TV shows.
“When we found out we were presenting together at the Golden Globes -- they always send you copy that is horrible with bad jokes -- so [America and I] took it back to both of our writing staffs and came up with some stuff,” Longoria said, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Ferrera said credit for the bit should go to “Superstore” creator and executive producer Justin Spitzer, who was inspired by the Golden Globes Awards' Twitter gaffe when they identified Ferrera as “Jane the Virgin” star Gina Rodriguez while announcing the ceremony’s presenters in December.
“I went to Justin and said, ‘What is going to be funny here?’ And we went back and forth a bit, and then Justin came up with the idea to play on what happened to me,” she said.
Spitzer said he only wrote “a little piece” of the idea, according to Entertainment Weekly, and Ferrera was being too “modest” to admit she wrote most of it.
Longoria said she was happy the moment caused “such a macro conversation” and received an overall positive response.
“There’s truth in jest. It went over very, very well,” Longoria said during the "Telenovela" panel. “We got an amazing response. Next season’s the 'America and Eva Show.'”
We know she’s joking, but we’d totally watch that.
