Bloomberg Denies 'Ass' Comment, History Of Misogynistic Remarks

An irritated Mayor Michael Bloomberg Thursday denied ever having made a crude comment about a woman's buttocks while at a swanky New York City party.

New York magazine published an article earlier this week revealing an anecdote in which Bloomberg notices a woman in a tight dress and says, "Look at the ass on her."

When asked about the quote at a press conference, Bloomberg angrily dismissed the story as false . "I never said it and I don’t know where it came from, next question," he said.

The Observer's Hunter Walker pressed the mayor on the issue, asking if the alleged remark might be part of a pattern of sexist comments.

"OK, you can write anything you want," the 70-year-old hizzoner shot back. "Don’t be ridiculous, that’s an outrage for you to say that.”

Since the article -- which was actually a profile on City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, not Bloomberg -- was published on Monday, the mayor's alleged history of misogyny has come under the spotlight.

Gawker did a rundown of the accusations against the third-term mayor. A 1996 lawsuit claims he once told a pregnant Bloomberg LP sales executive to 'Kill it!'

In 2001, another New York profile featured a handful of inappropriate quotes allegedly made by Bloomberg.

"If women wanted to be appreciated for their brains, they'd go to the library instead of to Bloomingdale's," he reportedly said.
