Brew At The Zoo 2013: Photos Show Beer, Food And A Few Quirky Characters

Drinking Beer, For Rusty

There were fake mustaches galore, temporary tattoos, plenty of beer and, of course, prairie dogs.

This was not an animal-themed hipster party, but instead the Smithsonian National Zoo's annual "Brew at the Zoo," which made animal loving D.C.-area beer aficionados very happy.

The sold out beer-tasting, hosted by Friends of the National Zoo, was a fundraiser for wildlife conservation all over the world, but the idea at Thursday's event was to indulge in a groggy fashion. With over 60 craft and microbreweries providing samples, and VIP guests snacking on food from ten local restaurants, indulge "brew"-goers did.

And while Rusty the red panda and other zoo favorites may not have been in attendance, there were certainly some party animals. Check out some of the best Tweets from the party at the zoo.

Try not to get too woozy!
