Navy Sailor Who Died From Seizure Gets Proper Burial After Wife's Craigslist Plea
|

A few good men from the U.S. Navy came to a widow's aid to give her husband a proper burial in San Diego last week.

When Kenneth Nosik, 26 years old and just out of the Navy, died after suffering from a seizure, nobody in his family could afford to come to his funeral.

In a moment of desperation, to make sure her husband would have a proper military funeral, Nosik's wife, Yvonne, posted a plea for help on Craigslist, asking for six Navy sailors to serve as pallbearers. She said everyone on his former boat was deployed at the time.

His wife also asked for someone to record the service so she could send a DVD to her late husband's family.

"As I cry and type this, it breaks my heart that my husbands [sic] only friends were me and those on the USS Vandergrift," she wrote. "If you would be available to donate your time in dressing up in your uniform for my husband I would so be thankful. I thank all who have read this."

It turns out, Craigslist is also where she met her husband, according to the post.

"This has been a difficult time for me. And I got desperate and turned to Craigslist. I met my husband on this site. May he rest in peace. I love you babe!!!!"

News of the post spread and soon there were Navy volunteers lining up to be a pallbearers at the funeral, according to 10News.com.

Among the crowd attending the funeral was the Alhinn family, whose 17-year-old daughter, with a rare blood type, received one of Nosik's kidneys, according to I4U News.

Leila Alhinn, whose daughter received Nosik's kidney, told the news site:

"Part of Yvonne's family is in my daughter. I feel so close to her; she gave my daughter life. I feel like she's my sister."

Organ donations were also made to three other families.
