Kevin Macdonald wants to make a film "unlike any film...that's ever been made before, which is to ask thousands of people, everywhere in the world, on a single day...to film some aspect of their day and then post that material onto YouTube so that we can use it to make a film that is a record of what it's like to be alive on that one day."
Sound like a wacky idea? Some very powerful people didn't think so, and that's on July 24, YouTube will be taken over by 'Life In A Day,' and filmmakers Macdonald and Ridley Scott will wait for the thousands of videos they hope will be uploaded.

The most impressive footage will be included in 'Life In A Day,' set to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2011. Upon its release, the film will also be available for free on YouTube.
Of course, there are a few restrictions, documented on Google's FAQ page. You have to be at least 13 to submit footage, and if you're in Iran, Syria, Cuba, Sudan, North Korea or Burma, you're out of luck. You're restricted by sanctions.
